FunkSec is a digital extortion group that has been reported since late 2024, associated with data theft, encryption, and the publication of victims’ information on leak sites.
On December 13, 2024, the threat actor Funksec claimed to have compromised La Mundial de Seguros, C.A., a Venezuelan insurance company. The attackers allegedly leaked a database containing confidential information, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, and hashed passwords of advisors, agencies, users, and policyholders.
