Anonymous Claims Responsibility for DDoS Attack Against the Presidency of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (August 29, 2024)
On August 29, 2024, the official website of the Venezuelan Presidency (presidencia.gob.ve) was targeted by a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack as part of the #CyberHuntersOp campaign. The attack, claimed by actors associated with Anonymous and Jh0n_Wick-Bl4ckH4t, caused widespread connection delays and the display of unauthorized access error pages. While the website’s availability was significantly impacted, there is no confirmed evidence of a data breach or permanent material loss as a result of the incident.

Official sources and media outlets reported attacks against presidencia.gob.ve during the post-election wave of #OpVenezuela. The impact was limited to the availability of the Presidency’s website; there is no evidence of compromised data.

On August 7, 2017, the website of the Presidency of the Republic was named by EFE/El Pitazo and appears as presidencia.gob.ve on IT Projects’ technical list. IBTimes reported that the presidential website had been restored later that day. There is no public evidence of data exfiltration.
